For those who want a full SC “Branded” conversion – this is the most affordable conversion we offer. SC Sporthomes Day van conversion is targeted at individuals who want a cost effective way of converting a vehicle – which, when the Day Van conversion is completed, is ready to use with nothing for the owner to do to finish off.
This conversion is along the same principles as SC Sporthomes Sport Tourer Conversion – but with a lower specification – the main differentiating factors between the Sport Tourer and the Day Van is that the Day Van conversion does not include a shower or heating and hot water system or awning – which has allowed us to reduce the cost of the Day Van considerably.
We have launched this product in place of the partial conversion, building your own van, in the long run is not as cost effective for the following reasons:-
- Feedback from many of our past customers who had a partial conversion – found it expensive and time consuming for them to finish off their partial conversions themselves and couldn’t finish a self conversion off to the standard of our conversion.
- A branded “approved coachbuilders” conversion, which our Day Van Conversion is, will be more desirable and have a higher residual value when the times comes for resale.
- Customers wishing to insure their vehicles in the correct manner – when finishing off a conversion themselves, struggled to obtain adequate insurance, due to new laws being imposed VOSA, insurance is becoming more difficult for self converters to obtain. Having a complete Day Van conversion ensures that there is no issue for you when you apply for motorhome insurance on your vehicle as it is a fully branded SC Sporthomes conversion, complete with SC external branded artwork.
The Day Van can be offered with 2 x layouts – the standard layout is fixed, with an L shaped seating area at the back of the cab seats, complete with upholstery, galley area with a 2 burner gas hob and sink with separate glass lids, 1 x flush window with internal black out blind, a full width garage with checker plate floor and white pvc walls and ceiling, overhead double bunk complete with mattress above the garage, a toilet cubicle with porta potti, hard wearing slate effect laminate flooring throughout the living area. The vehicle is fully lined and insulated and walls and ceiling are covered in a choice of foam backed marine grade vinyl or suede effect material. All electrical works and low consumption LED spot lighting is fitted too, by our qualified electricians. This conversion then provides you with 3 x belted seats in the cab area with sleeping for 3 in the rear (1 on L shaped bench seat and 2 over the garage area). This can be made into sleeping for 4 with the option of a bed slide out at the L shaped seating, if 4 travelling is required, a rear lapbelt will be needed as an option.
The alternate layout is the open cab seat configuration (suitable with a base vehicle which already has 2 x single seats in the cab) this layout is offered at an additional £250.00+vat to open up the front bulkhead, allowing walk through access from the cab into the rear. However this configuration will only travel 2 persons belted.
There are lots of options available on the Day van conversion so you can spec the conversion up to suit your requirements and budget – unfortunately we don’t spec this conversion down.
The conversion, from day of vehicle drop off to us – takes 2-3 weeks dependent on conversion specification. However we are normally booked a month or so in advance.
